Ron, great post. As I was reading it I noticed an unfamiliar pessimism creep into my mind. I was telling myself, Ron's right but no one cares and no one will do anything to actually sacrifice. I know that change has to start in our own lives and I have certainly not sacrificed anything based on the war. I feel like we are told to consume more not less so that our economy can stay strong in time of war. BTW, what is wrong with our economy that requires us to buy things we don't need to stay strong. Anyway, I think most of us are already trying to be more conscious about our energy consumtion for one reason or another, but what else could be a practicle "effort". Maybe we could boycott companies that are linked to the war in some way or another. I am not sure if that is in the spirit of what you are talking about, but I am at a bit of a loss...

Ron, thanks for sparking such a great dialog. My disdain for the war runs higher and higher everyday our young men and women are stuck there. While I don't know that I could consider myself pro-draft, I absolutely love your thoughts on it. Its not secret that our armed forces are filled with the less fortunate and maybe a draft would force the high powered , rich folk to stand up against the war. (And ironically, that would probably be all that is needed to put an end to it!)

Kev, I join you in your pessimism. How can I stay positive in a time like this?
